Grants 101: Demonstrating Sustainability

Grants 101 – Demonstrating Sustainability
Session 8 of the Grants 101 Series

A common question on grant applications is “How will you sustain this program after the grant funding is over?” Many grant writers will want to answer glibly, “Write more grants, of course!” But, what should you really include in your answer about a sustainability plan?

In this session, presenter Julie Assel, GPC, guides participants through the major components of the sustainability question. In addition to learning how to provide an honest answer to this question, this session highlights all the things you can tell funders about program sustainability beyond finances; such as alignment with your strategic plan, staffing plans or challenges, and alignment to the needs of the community.  You’ll also learn how to develop a more complete answer to financial sustainability that demonstrates how your organization manages fundraising for long-term program sustainability and growth.

Grants 101 Training Series

Grants are about so much more than just grant writing. This series of grant trainings will guide you through 1) researching opportunities, 2) building relationships with funders, 3) designing high-quality programs, 4) organizational readiness, 5) writing grant proposals, and 6) managing grants. In addition, to guide your continued learning, we have a training to help you decide where you want to grow next based on the career path options available to you.

These sessions are designed to give basic knowledge to a nonprofit professional who is just starting to learn about grants or who has had no formal training in grants. This program breaks the concepts down into manageable pieces that can be learned over time.
