Should your organization be applying for grants? Are you grant ready? What does grant ready mean anyway? This session examines the readiness of organizations for grant revenue starting at the top with the board, then it examines the readiness of staff for grant implementation, the vision and comprehensiveness of each program, how well programs are evaluated, how prepared organizations are for program and financial reporting, and basic financial and attachment requirements.  The presentation will not only provide basic information for organizations who are new to grants, but will also provide information to growing organizations who are trying to increase their capacity to handle larger grants from national foundations or the federal government.

What You’ll Learn:

• How to engage and educate your board in grant readiness.
• How development staff can implement practices within their organization to increase grant readiness.
• Basic information your organization should track as you increase grant readiness.
• Building the capacity of and getting feedback/input from program staff to increase grant readiness.
• The continuum of grant readiness tends to begin and end with financial staff.

The trainers for these sessions are all credentialed grant professionals (GPCs) who agree to adhere to the Grant Professionals Association (GPA) Code of Ethics and are GPA Approved Trainers. All of the trainings in this series align with the Grant Professionals Certification Institute’s competencies and skills.

• Competency 2: Knowledge of organization development as it pertains to grant seeking
  • Skill 2.1. Assess organizations’ capacity for grant seeking.
  • Skill 2.2. Assess organizations’ readiness to obtain funding for and implement specific projects.
  • Skill 2.3. Identify methods for assisting organizations to implement practices that advance grant readiness.
• Competency 3: Knowledge of strategies for effective program and project design and development
  • Skill 3.3. Identify strategies for educating key personnel bout financial and programmatic accountability to comply with funder requirements.
• Competency 5: Knowledge of post-award grant management practices sufficient to inform effective grant design and development.
  • Skill 5.3. Differentiate roles and responsibilities of project and management staff and other key personnel affiliated with grant projects.

CEUs
This training aligns with the Grant Professional Certification Institute’s Competencies and Skills and is approved for 1.0 Continuing Education Unit (CEU). Full participation in this training is also applicable for 1.0 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.
