In every grant proposal, the writer must convey the importance and urgency of their target population’s needs, problems, and challenges with data and heart.

In this webinar, presenter Julie Assel, GPC, will start at the surface and then take a deep dive into effective strategies for conveying problems and needs in grant proposals. She will talk about data sources; proposal-writing tones and formats for presenting data; appropriate uses of visuals to highlight data; the challenges of presenting data in online applications; and community needs assessments. Julie will also talk about how to appeal to the heart of the grant review without providing a long, detailed, client story and the importance of the connection between the need section and the program and evaluation sections of your proposal.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Why it is important to include data in your grant proposals
  • Specific places to go for data connected to topics, including poverty, hunger, homelessness, health, and more.

Grant Funding Basics Series

Grants are about so much more than just grant writing. This series of grant trainings will guide you through 1) researching opportunities, 2) building relationships with funders, 3) designing high quality programs, 4) organizational readiness, 5) writing grant proposals, and 6) managing grants. In addition, to guide your continued learning, we have a training to help you decide where you want to grow next based on the career path options available to you.

These sessions are designed to give basic knowledge to a nonprofit professional who is just starting to learn about grants or who has had no formal training in grants. This program breaks the concepts down into manageable pieces that can be learned over time.
