Do you struggle to get the information and resources you need – from finance to program managers to senior level staff and CEOs – to write competitive grant proposals? Do you have the skills and tools to manage up and across your organization? Practice using two management tools that can help you get what you need, when you need it, and increase your productivity!

We’ll cover:

      • What is Managing Up?
      • How to gain, improve and practice your managing up skills
      • Tools to better manage others in the grants process.


GPCI Competencies and Skills:

GPCI Competency 3: Knowledge of strategies for effective program and project design and development
Skill 1: Identify methods of soliciting and incorporating meaningful substantive input and contributions by stakeholders.
Skill 2: Identify methods of building partnerships and facilitating collaborations among co-applicants.

GPC Competency 7: Knowledge of practices and services that raise the level of professionalism of grant developers
Skill 3: Identify strategies that grant developers use in building social capital to benefit their communities and society.


Speaker Bio:

Michele Ryan, GPC, is an Assistant Director with Assel Grant Services. Michele brings over twenty years of non-profit sector experience in elementary, secondary and higher education, performing arts and social services. She received her bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, and has broad fundraising knowledge with a focus on grant writing and management. Michele has successfully secured over $16 million in funding from government, foundation, corporate, and individual sources over the course of her career.
