Te Deum Receives $2,500 Grant from the Richard J. Stern Foundation for the Arts

Te Deum, Inc. recently received a grant for $2,500 from the Richard J Stern Foundation for the Arts to support operating expenses and presentation of seven concerts.

Funding will support expenses including the artistic director’s stipend, venue rentals, and guest musicians.  All performances will give audience members a chance to hear sacred choral music of stunning quality and to form a deep and relevant connection with each concert’s artistic theme.

Over the last ten years, Te Deum has consistently brought high-quality choral performances to audiences throughout the Kansas City region. Altogether, Te Deum’s ensembles consistently perform between six to ten moving concerts each year, enriching the arts community in and around Kansas City.

Te Deum’s vision is for humanity to be transformed by sacred music. Founded in 2008, Te Deum has two ensembles, Chamber Choir and Antiqua. Chamber Choir, Te Deum’s original ensemble, performs a diverse repertoire of sacred choral music. The Chamber Choir is dedicated to using well-known literature and lesser-known contemporary works to weave relevant themes, encouraging audience members to consider their attitudes, opinions, and beliefs.  In 2013, Te Deum introduced Antiqua, an ensemble devoted to early choral music using historically informed literature and performance techniques to provide historically accurate performances. Antiqua’s purpose is to demonstrate early vocal music and compositional techniques that were so important to better-known works, giving audience members a better appreciation of the foundational nature of early music.
