Our “Grant Readiness Bootcamp” is a comprehensive, six-session online course designed specifically for executive directors, founders, and key staff members who want to strengthen their organization’s capacity to seek out and secure grants.

 

You’ll learn how to:

      • Assess your organization’s grant readiness and develop strategies to progress
      • Know what it takes to navigate the grant-seeking process with confidence
      • Identify and professionally assemble the critical information required by funders 
      • Craft compelling case statements that effectively communicate your organization’s value
      • Understand the principles of designing SMART outcomes and creating logic models for program evaluation
      • Recognize the importance of building strong relationships with potential funders and learn strategies to cultivate these relationships
      • Gain insights into the process of conducting prospect research and creating a strategic grant calendar, and understand the resources and skills required to effectively carry out these tasks
      • Understand grantee ethics, responsibilities, and best practices for grant management
      • Enhance your organization’s sustainability, competitiveness, and capacity for growth

Session 1: Understanding Your Organization
In this session, we’ll focus on organizational grant readiness. We’ll discuss how to educate and engage your board of directors, prepare your program and financial staff, and identify where your organization stands on the grant readiness continuum. You’ll learn strategies to move your organization forward along the continuum, setting the stage for successful grant-seeking.

Session 2: Basic Grant Attachments
This session will focus on the attachments and supplemental documents routinely requested as part of a grant application. We’ll cover proof of nonprofit status, financial statements, organizational and program budgets, board rosters, and more. Participants will learn why funders request these attachments and tips for preparing them professionally.

Session 3: Case Statements
This session focuses on creating a complete yet concise description of your organization or the project you would like a funder to support. We’ll discuss elements of a case statement, with best practices and real-world examples for each. The session will conclude with a practical application of the principles within your professional setting.

Session 4: Program Design and Evaluation
This session focuses on building the foundation for future success in executing and evaluating programs. You will learn how to design SMART outcomes, the essential components of program evaluation, and how to create and use a logic model. The session will wrap up with hands-on exercises, allowing you to apply the principles learned to your professional context and engage in interactive learning.

Session 5: Prospect Research and Creating a Grant Calendar
This session will focus on how your organization can begin (or enhance) the process of learning about the funding community, researching specific grant opportunities, assessing if a funder is a good fit with your organization, and finally, turning all that hard work into a strategic and realistic grant calendar.

Session 6: Grantee Ethics and Responsibilities
In this session, you’ll gain an understanding of the professional codes of ethics that guide grant professionals and the crucial role you play in ensuring your organization fulfills its responsibilities as a grantee. You’ll learn how to effectively manage grants after they’ve been awarded, maintain positive relationships with funders, and confidently lead your staff and volunteers so they are as comfortable as possible when the time comes for them to effectively manage a grant award.

The trainers for these sessions are all credentialed grant professionals (GPCs) through the Grant Professional Certification Institute. All of the sessions in this course align with the Grant Professionals Certification Institute’s competencies and skills and the CGMS exam classification system, and are approved for Continuing Education Units (CEU) by GPCI and CFRE International.
