27 Feb Lyric Opera of Kansas City Receives $500,000 Grant from Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation
Lyric Opera of Kansas City recently received a grant for $500,000 from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation to help fund the season and the outreach education programs.
The support from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation will help Lyric Opera maintain high levels of artistry and technical accomplishment. In an ever more competitive performing arts environment, Lyric Opera intends to keep providing “wow” opera experiences to our community and the Kansas City region.
Lyric Opera of Kansas City has proceeded with its strategic planning process, to culminate in the creation of a written Strategic Plan and the development of a rolling three-year operating plan. Another crucial part of our strategic planning is learning to project our production and program plans, including budgeting, over a three-year period. This gives us greater opportunities to foresee possible community partnerships and collaborations well ahead of implementation. Lyric Opera of Kansas City has completed its fourth season at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. We’ve had an extraordinary year, with our productions garnering praise from all quarters. In our next fiscal year we will continue to strive to meet high expectations in artistry and technical achievement.
The Lyric Opera brings high quality live operatic performances to the people of the Kansas City area and five-state region. Repertoire choices encompass original language performances of standard repertory as well as contemporary and American operas. The Company seeks to mount productions that enrich the community it serves, as well as reflect the highest artistic standards of the profession.
