GPA-Idaho Chapter Meeting: Ethics in Action for Grant Professionals

Our guest speaker this month is Shauna O’Toole, GPC.

Session Description:
Gain experience confronting ethical dilemmas in a no-risk environment! After a brief overview of GPA code of ethics and topics that in-house writers and consultants frequently encounter, participants will examine real-life ethical case studies. Participants will share their recommended course of action which will be compared with the advice given by the GPA ethics committee.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify potential ethical conflicts.
  • Synthesize theoretical knowledge of the GPA code of Ethics with actual ethical situations faced by grant professionals.
  • Explore various perspectives as related to the ethical issue.
  • Arrive at a conclusion regarding the ethical issue.

Aligns with GPCI Competency #6: Knowledge of nationally recognized standards of ethical practice by grant developers

Presenter Bio:
Shauna O’Toole is a Grants Specialist with Assel Grant Services. Prior to coming to AGS in 2023, she was Director of Development for Emmaus Homes for seven years. Shauna has secured over $1.5 million in foundation, corporate, federated, and local government funding in the St. Louis area since 2015. Shauna holds an MA degree and the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential. Shauna obtained the Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential in 2023. She is active in the Grant Professionals Association, where she is serving as the Greater St. Louis Regional Chapter president (2022-2024).
