Kansas City Actors Theatre, Inc. Receives $14,603 Grant from the Missouri Arts Council

Kansas City Actors Theatre, Inc. (KCAT) was recently awarded a $14,603 grant from the Missouri Arts Council (MAC) to support their 18th production season.

KCAT’s mainstage shows in the coming season will continue to be produced at the City Stage in historic Union Station. This season, Kansas City Actors Theatre will be operating a 5-show season for the first time. In Season 18 (April 2022 – March 2023), KCAT will produce five live, in-person productions. The Season 18 lineup continues to speak to the guiding principles of classic and contemporary-classic theatre produced by the best local theatrical artists.

The productions include four selections with themes of family dynamics, a classic ‘whodunnit’, a love letter between spouses following a long battle with cancer, a funny, yet heartwarming take on dealing an Alzheimer’s diagnoses, and the thought-provoking “Smart People” featuring BIPOC artists as the fifth production.

Kansas City Actors Theatre produces thought-provoking plays that explore, celebrate, and share what it is to be human, with sensitivity, intelligence, and humor. We nurture our local artistic community by employing the finest talents of Kansas City’s diverse professional theatre community, which in turn makes Kansas City a more vibrant, vital place to live and work.

KCAT is artist-led and artist-driven. We are a collective of local theatre professionals who collaborate with a community Board to realize and advance our mission. KCAT employs Kansas City artists and artisans, pays them professional rates, and creates a physically and emotionally safe working environment that frees artists to take bold and brave risks. KCAT affirms that inclusive representation is essential to every aspect of our organization, from the stories on our stage, to the artists who tell those stories, to the Board and committee members who make operational and artistic decisions.
