We believe effective and efficient grant management is built on a foundation of ethical conduct, strong internal controls, and professionalism. We know from experience that effective grant management is more than just policies and procedures – when implemented correctly throughout the full grant lifecycle, it is a capacity-building activity for organizations at any stage of development. AGS offers the following grant management services to grow your organization’s capacity to receive and successfully implement grant funding at any level.

      • Grant management consultingwe provide comprehensive post-award grant management for organizations who do not currently have the expertise or capacity to manage their current grant revenue. Commonly supported organizations include nonprofits; early childhood, Early Head Start, and Head Start programs; school districts and charter schools; two-year and four-year institutions of higher education; independent and critical access hospitals, federally qualified health centers, health care systems, community mental health centers, and comprehensive community behavioral health clinics; and cities, counties, regional, and quasi-governmental organizations

      • Compliant policies and procedures development – we can review your organization’s policies and procedures against the most updated federal regulations and best practices in grantsmanship, offering targeted feedback and full revisions of existing policies and procedures to bring them into compliance. If your organization lacks policies and procedures for compliant grant management, our team can develop comprehensive policies and procedures tailored to your organizational context.
      • Implementation support and technical assistance – if your organization is a first-time recipient or subrecipient of federal funding, it can be overwhelming to manage the multitude of technical requirements and deliverables associated with your award while completing your mission-centered project activities. Our grant management team can guide the technical implementation of your project and provide technical assistance in the areas of budget revisions, scope changes, data collection and management, fiscal grant management, time and effort reporting, purchasing and procurement, vendor management, and more to support your team.
      • Award terms and conditions coaching – our grant management team is well-versed in reading and interpreting award terms and conditions. We can coach your organization on the compliant acceptance and implementation of standard and special terms and conditions included with your award.
      • Progress monitoring and data collection plans – we can come alongside your organization’s program personnel to develop progress monitoring and data collection plans taking into account project roles, responsibilities, and required deliverable to ensure your project stays on track from start to finish.
      • Subrecipient Monitoring – if your organization has one or more subrecipients on its award, our grant managers can develop and implement a subrecipient risk assessment, generate a subaward contract with applicable special terms and conditions imposed by your organization, provide technical assistance, and conduct general management of the subrecipients.
      • Award amendments and budget revisions – our grant managers work with program personnel, administrative staff, and executive leadership at your organization to analyze when post-award amendments or budget revisions are necessary and to prepare the agency-required documentation.
      • Expenditure Documentation and Compliance Review – our grant management team is well-versed in expenditure allowability and the federal cost principles. As part of the development of any spending plan, budget revision, implementation support, or technical assistance, our team can review proposed expenditures and the associated documentation to ensure compliance with the original budget and subsequent revisions, agency or state-specific guidance, organization-level spending policies, and federal regulations.
      • Progress and Final Reports – our team of professionals can prepare progress and final performance, fiscal, and close out reports for submission to your organization’s funding agencies.
      • Grant management training – we know implementing effective grant management practices can be challenging, especially if policies or procedures are impacted. We offer custom training to support first-time federal grantees and your team’s ongoing implementation of its grant management activities, policies, and procedures. Emphasis on Federal Regulations

We are frequently asked about our emphasis on developing policies and procedures aligned to federal regulations. We believe the federal regulations are the gold standard on which all organizations should build an environment of strong internal controls. Doing so not only prevents fraud, waste, and abuse, but it communicates the organization is serious about transparency, accountability, consistency in its operations, and proactively mitigating risk to all its funders – whether those be local community foundations, regional or national foundations, city and state funders, or the federal government. Even if your organization is not yet pursuing federal funding, our team of grant management professionals can help members of your organization be more knowledgeable, experienced, and comfortable with these regulations so you are ready to apply for and receive federal funding when the time is right!
