Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc. (CMHS) Receives a $50,000 Grant from the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City

Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc. (CMHS) was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City to support the salary, a portion of payroll taxes, and benefits of a new Health Information Administrator (HIA).

The Health Information Administrator will work closely with CMHS’s Quality Management Department, Business Office, and Clinical Departments to ensure that all individuals are adequately advised and trained in the most efficient work procedures in utilizing the agency’s Anasazi Electronic /Health Medical Records System (EMHR) as updates and changes are made to the system. They will also be responsible for ensuring the agency is performing according to Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and Department of Mental Health (DMH) standards.

The Health Care Foundation grant dollars will support the new Health Information Administrator’s salary for one year in order to integrate the position into CMHS’s daily operations. In addition, funds will be used for one-time costs associated with improving the agency’s network switches and Wi-Fi access points.  These additions will help reduce IT/network maintenance costs in the future.  Once CMHS has received its CCBHC designation, it will receive higher Medicaid reimbursement rates.
