Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc. (CMHS) Receives $70,059 Grant from the Health Forward Foundation

Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc. (CMHS) recently received a grant for $70,059 from the Health Forward Foundation to support hiring a Medication Assisted Treatment Coordinator.  This individual will enhance CMHS’s capacity to coordinate referrals and appointments, as well as engage in outreach and conduct group education.

The new Medication Assisted Treatment Coordinator will: review referrals for MAT clients and connect them with services/appointments, coordinate doctor’s appointments, collect UA’s, and schedule follow-up appointments. They will conduct group education regarding MAT services, engage in outreach with potential MAT clients, connect MAT clients to detox and other urgent services if and when they run out of medications, help clients pick up medications (coordinated with CMHS’s onsite Genoa Pharmacy), work with the pharmacy on any questions, provide medication training for staff/clients/family of clients, develop relationships with other local MAT clinics, provide MAT training and information to CMHS staff, and participate in bi-weekly opioid state calls.

This project will help consumers successfully navigate service delivery systems. By hiring a new MAT Coordinator, more clients will return and engage in services. The Coordinator will provide engagement and follow-up services and clients will also experience increased engagement with their healthcare experience.

Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc. (CMHS) provides a safety net of behavioral health and addiction services to low-income clients in the Eastern Jackson County, Missouri community. CMHS helps ensure underserved and uninsured individuals have access to and education around lifesaving interventions and services.
