Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc. (CMHS) was recently awarded a $30,000 grant from the REACH Healthcare Foundation to support outside professional services that will allow CMHS to build and strengthen the essential infrastructure and activities of its development department.

CMHS will partner with Encore Nonprofit Solutions (Encore NPS), a leading provider of development and fundraising services to nonprofits. Encore will provide professional consultation, training, and content/creative development to facilitate execution of development activities.

Because CMHS does not currently have comprehensive systems and processes for fundraising and development, Encore NPS will support CMHS in developing an organizational infrastructure, and establishing policies, procedures, and best practices on which to build its development program. This will include integration of a Donor Database (CRM) and staff training and consultation. Encore NPS will provide guidance on assessment and selection of a CRM and facilitate training for staff users. Encore will also provide professional training and support to guide best practices in fundraising.

Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc. (CMHS) began as a small outpatient clinic in 1969 and has grown to become the largest behavioral health safety net resource for Eastern Jackson County, Missouri. CMHS is a community mental health center that provides a safety net of mental health and substance use treatment services for low-income people in Eastern Jackson County and the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri. CMHS is committed to strengthening the capacity of the safety net by providing an array of mental health and substance use treatment services. In addition, the agency provides prevention, education, and integrated mental and primary health services for low income people of all races/ethnicities and who cannot afford to pay for treatment, are uninsured or under-insured.
