Comprehensive Mental Health Services (CMHS) was recently awarded a $475,000 grant from the Jackson County COMBAT Treatment Fund to support services at the George Norman Recovery Center including psycho-education groups, individual and group counseling, medication management, case management, outpatient programming, day treatment, housing and job resources.
The CMHS Addiction Recovery Program offers a psycho-educational model of treatment, which is made available upon admission and includes three levels of care: Primary Treatment/Day Treatment/Residential, Rehabilitation and Supported Recovery (Outpatient). The program as a whole offers a high level of Trauma-Informed care, recognizing that nearly all participants with addictions have a history of trauma. Clients in the Addiction Recovery Program are referred from mental health professionals, family, medical facilities, social/community agencies as well as by self-referral, former clients and drug court/probation/parole and hospitals.
The George Norman Recovery Center provides day services including individual/group counseling, case management, prevention, interventions, intensive outpatient programming, day treatment, housing, job resources, and psycho-education groups that teach participants about a variety of aspects of addiction and the consequences of risky behaviors and violence related to drug and alcohol abuse. It also teaches understanding and skills in healthy living. Day treatment includes seven hours of weekday services offered to clients in residential services.
