Metro Lutheran Ministries (MLM) recently received a grant for $15,000 from the Menorah Legacy Foundation to support the Orchard and Community Garden Project. Funds will be used to purchase additional garden beds, garden gates, gourd houses, table and seating, annual supplies, composting supplies, production and distribution of the Cooking Green video, direct labor costs, and administrative overhead costs.

Genesis Promise Academy was recently awarded a $158,100 grant from Jackson County Community Mental Health Fund (JCCMHH) to support their counseling program. The counseling program will provide mental health services to 200 current Genesis students ages 5-14.
03 Mar Developing Potential, Inc. Receives $7,500 Grant from Hallmark Corporate Foundation
Developing Potential, Inc. recently received a grant for $7,500 from the Hallmark Corporate Foundation to improve conditions and safety at their Lee’s Summit facility. The grant will assist in replacing aging and broken furniture and flooring. These replacements are necessary for proper delivery of program services and to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
02 Mar DPI Received $10,000 Grant From Hall Family Foundation
Developing Potential Inc. (DPI) was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Hall Family Foundation to replace its aging and disjointed telecommunications system with a modern, unified system. This project will enhance DPI's ability to deliver services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Jackson County, MO, and will result in enhanced health and safety for individuals served.
01 Mar Te Deum, Inc. Receives $4,424 Grant from the Missouri Arts Council
Te Deum, Inc. recently received a grant for $4,424 from the Missouri Arts Council to support their ensemble, Te Deum Antiqua.
Te Deum Antiqua premiered in the fall of 2013. The purpose of this professional ensemble is to present early, historically informed choral music to the Kansas City community. These highly trained musicians will seek to provide audiences with as authentic a portrayal of early music as possible.
28 Feb Lee’s Summit CDBG Awards $12,234 to Developing Potential, Inc.
Developing Potential, Inc. (DPI) was recently awarded a $12,234 grant from a Lee’s Summit Community Development Block Grant to make substantial improvements to its Lee’s Summit facility in order to increase the safety and security of the facility. Developing Potential will purchase and install a state-of-the-art fire detection system and an intrusion detection system, both of which will be continually monitored by Jade Alarm Systems. The fire detection system will include a heat detector in the kitchen area, smoke detectors throughout the building, and will include emergency lighting, horn/strobe notification devices, and manual fire alarm pull stations at the building’s exits. DPI will also purchase and install a new intrusion detection system for the Lee’s Summit facility, including keypad entry systems, magnetic door sensors, and motion detectors, along with carbon monoxide sensors.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City recently received a grant for $500,000 from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation to help fund the season and the outreach education programs. The support from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation will help Lyric Opera maintain high levels of artistry and technical accomplishment. In an ever more competitive performing arts environment, Lyric Opera intends to keep providing “wow” opera experiences to our community and the Kansas City region.
26 Feb CMHS Receives $30,000 Grant from the REACH Healthcare Foundation
Comprehensive Mental Health Services (CMHS) recently received a grant for $30,000 from the REACH Healthcare Foundation to connect CMHS with the Kansas area health information exchange, LACIE. The goal of the Health Information Exchange Connections project is to increase CMHS’ capacity to securely pass confidential client information between health organizations electronically. When CMHS is connected to the Kansas City area health information exchange, LACIE, CMHS will be able to electronically receive and send confidential client information with other area medical and behavioral health care organizations, such as Truman Medical Centers, ReDiscover, and Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. LACIE’s Nationwide Health Information Network gateway will also allow CMHS to connect to other State exchanges, such as Missouri Health Connection and Kansas Health Information Network, as well as the federal government to ensure proper care of all patients.
