Metro Lutheran Ministries (MLM) recently received a grant for $15,000 from the United Way, United for Hope to support development of the Family Stability and Empowerment Initiative. The Family Stability and Empowerment Initiative is a joint initiative linking MLM's Emergency Assistance program, providing short-term food and housing stability relief, with the Learning to Earning program, providing long-term support of education and employment services.
18 Mar St. Cloud State University Receives $30,000 Grant From Otto Bremer Foundation
St. Cloud State University (SCSU) was recently awarded a $30,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation to provide housing, customized programming, peer support and clinical services to students in recovery who are working to obtain a college degree. The SCSU Recovery Community is a Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC). CRC’s provide recovery coaching, and provide linkages to a wide spectrum of resources including recovery housing and recovery-conducive education and employment. CRC’s often host recovery support meetings, or connect participants to recovery support meetings helping to facilitate their continued social participation. They also serve as sites for recovery-focused social networking, advocacy, peer support, and community service activities. CRCs at educational institutions like SCSU focus on recovery supports ranging from sober housing, on-campus recovery support groups, recovery coaching, academic mentoring, study groups, sober social activities, community service projects, and scholarships for students in recovery.

Metro Lutheran Ministries (MLM) recently received a grant for $15,000 from the Frank & Margaret G. McGee Foundation support MLM's free Saturday Breakfast Ministries in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. MLM will use the funds from the Frank & Margaret G. McGee Fund to support MLM's free Saturday Breakfast Ministries in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. Specifically, we use these funds to buy food (scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee), supplies for the breakfast, and pay for the yearly permits, licenses and fees to host the breakfast. Funds will also be used to support the staff time supervising the volunteers and managing the program.

Metro Lutheran Ministries (MLM) was recently awarded a $20,000 grant from United Way of Wyandotte County to support their Wyandotte Community Care Services program. Wyandotte Community Care Services provides emergency food assistance, emergency utility and housing assistance, and case management services for clients. Emergency food assistance includes a food pantry, senior commodities distribution and a Saturday morning breakfast. Utility and housing assistance includes funding to a landlord, mortgage holder, or utility provider to help stabilize the housing situation of clients. Case management includes information and referrals to additional government and community resources.

Metro Lutheran Ministries (MLM) recently received a grant for $15,000 from the Menorah Legacy Foundation to support the Orchard and Community Garden Project. Funds will be used to purchase additional garden beds, garden gates, gourd houses, table and seating, annual supplies, composting supplies, production and distribution of the Cooking Green video, direct labor costs, and administrative overhead costs.

Genesis Promise Academy was recently awarded a $158,100 grant from Jackson County Community Mental Health Fund (JCCMHH) to support their counseling program. The counseling program will provide mental health services to 200 current Genesis students ages 5-14.
03 Mar Developing Potential, Inc. Receives $7,500 Grant from Hallmark Corporate Foundation
Developing Potential, Inc. recently received a grant for $7,500 from the Hallmark Corporate Foundation to improve conditions and safety at their Lee’s Summit facility. The grant will assist in replacing aging and broken furniture and flooring. These replacements are necessary for proper delivery of program services and to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.

Developing Potential Inc. (DPI) was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Hall Family Foundation to replace its aging and disjointed telecommunications system with a modern, unified system. This project will enhance DPI's ability to deliver services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Jackson County, MO, and will result in enhanced health and safety for individuals served.
01 Mar Te Deum, Inc. Receives $4,424 Grant from the Missouri Arts Council
Te Deum, Inc. recently received a grant for $4,424 from the Missouri Arts Council to support their ensemble, Te Deum Antiqua.
Te Deum Antiqua premiered in the fall of 2013. The purpose of this professional ensemble is to present early, historically informed choral music to the Kansas City community. These highly trained musicians will seek to provide audiences with as authentic a portrayal of early music as possible.
